During court arguments on 5 February, the prosecutor requested a 15-year prison sentence in a strict-regime colony for former mayor of Troitsk Alexander Vinogradov and a fine of 10 million rubles (approximately $111,000 at current rates).
This was reported by senior assistant prosecutor of the Chelyabinsk Region, Natalya Mamaeva. In addition, the prosecution insists on the confiscation to the state of a treadmill worth 126,000 rubles (about $1,400), as well as more than 600,000 rubles (about $6,700) allegedly received as bribes.
Alexander Vinogradov was detained by security forces in December 2023, when he was still serving as mayor. He is suspected of receiving a bribe in the form of a sports exercise machine for facilitating the acceleration of permitting procedures for a non-residential building. According to the official«s relatives, the criminal prosecution is a »revenge of the security forces« for a previously issued acquittal.
