Ex-convict arrested for 1999 double murder

The Leninsky District Court has taken into custody for two months 59-year-old resident of Serov, Viktor Borozdin. He has been charged with a double murder committed 26 years ago.

According to the investigation, on the night of September 27, 1999, in the courtyard of a private residential house in the city of Aramil, the perpetrator committed the murder of a married couple during a conflict. After committing the murder, Viktor Borozdin fled the scene. He was found only after many years thanks to the work of investigators and forensic experts. The accused has an extensive criminal background, including murders, banditry, and robberies.
In 2002, the Chelyabinsk Regional Court sentenced him to a long term of imprisonment. He spent 18.5 years in prison and was released from Ivdel colony in 2019. If his guilt is confirmed, he will likely face another long prison sentence,

The arrest occurred on January 21. Criminal investigation operatives with the support of SOBR (Special Rapid Response Unit) fighters arrived at the apartment where Borozdin lived with his partner. The man did not open the door for a long time, but eventually surrendered. The investigation is being conducted by the 4th Department of Internal Affairs of the Sverdlovsk Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia, which deals with past crimes.
