Drunken mother's rocking leads to baby's death in Yekaterinburg

In Yekaterinburg, a mother will be tried after her four-month-old baby died. The infant fell from the crib and hit his head on the floor.
According to the investigation, Yekaterinburg resident Victoria Vazhenina was rocking the baby crib too hard, at some point the infant fell through the opened movable side and hit his head. The injury proved fatal for the baby.
It is known that everything happened in early August 2025. On the fateful day, Victoria was drunk.
The criminal case for causing death by negligence has been transferred to the Chkalovsky District Court.
Previously, the court sentenced a mother who strangled her two-month-old daughter. Anastasia was given 9 years of imprisonment with serving the term in a general regime correctional colony.
The tragedy itself occurred on 25 June 2025. On that day, the two-month-old girl cried a lot, and Anastasia was angry because she couldn«t calm her daughter down. Her husband had gone to work, and then received an SMS from his wife with the words: «I threw the baby on the sofa, I»m a terrible mother, forgive me and goodbye.» The serviceman immediately rushed home, called an ambulance and the police, but they couldn«t save the child.
After the murder, Anastasia fled to the bus station. All this time she was writing messages to her husband — he persuaded her to surrender to the authorities.
