Defense Appeals Arrest of Surgut Teen in Kidnapping Case

The defense of an 18-year-old girl from Surgut, who flew to Krasnoyarsk and, together with the son of a major Krasnoyarsk businessman, opened three safes in his home, will seek to have the arrest overturned. This information was confirmed to NGS24.RU by the regional Investigative Committee.

As explained by our source, this is a standard procedure. The court may change the decision or leave it as is.

The regional Investigative Committee told NGS24.RU that the situation the 18-year-old girl found herself in was reported to her mother. It is not yet known whether she will fly to her daughter in Krasnoyarsk or not.

The girl from Surgut, who became an intermediary in the «kidnapping» of the 14-year-old son of a Krasnoyarsk businessman, handed over the money stolen from his home to an unknown man near the «Sever» restaurant.

According to the prosecutor«s office, in January, fraudsters persuaded the boy to steal money from family safes. Over the phone and in messengers, they convinced the teenager that this way he was helping his relatives. The fraudsters asked for the money to be handed over to an intermediary, as law enforcement calls her. She turned out to be an 18-year-old girl from Surgut.

In a video from the prosecutor«s office, she says that she herself acted under the influence and threats of fraudsters:

«They convinced me to act for the good of the family to avoid financial and legal problems.»

The court sent her to a pre-trial detention center until March 22, as reported simultaneously by the prosecutor«s office, the Investigative Committee, and the combined press service of the regional courts. The prosecution ruled out house arrest.
