Criminal case after flu outbreak at Prokopyevsk home

Journalists were the first to report on the flu outbreak at the Prokopyevsk boarding home.
The first pre-investigation check has been completed at the psychoneurological boarding home in Prokopyevsk, where nearly 50 residents contracted the flu. Law enforcement suspects that the institution may have violated SanPin norms, the press services of the regional prosecutor«s office and investigative committee reported on social media on January 24.
After visiting the boarding home, it was decided to open a criminal case. In the coming months, law enforcement will determine whether staff may have violated sanitary-epidemiological rules, which could have caused the outbreak.
While the sick are hospitalized, specialists will examine the social institution«s documentation and check how it operated in the months leading up to the mass illness.
In response to a question from NGS42.RU correspondent on social media, representatives of the regional Ministry of Health reported that all sick mentally ill patients were sent to infectious disease hospitals in Prokopyevsk and Novokuznetsk.
The outbreak became known after a mass screening in one of the boarding home buildings. Prior to that, two residents had been hospitalized with pneumonia.
At the same time, some media reported that most of those infected did experience fever, body aches, and headaches.
