Court sentences Zabaykalye man to colony for bat assault

The Mogochinsky District Court sentenced a local resident to two years in a penal colony for inflicting grievous bodily harm on a fellow villager by hitting him with a bat on the head. This was reported on February 2 on the court«s page on the social network VKontakte.

The conflict between the accused and the victim occurred during a telephone conversation. After the quarrel, the intoxicated resident of the village of Klyuchevsky arrived at the victim«s house.

«After the conflict, the accused, who was in a state of alcohol intoxication, came to the victim»s house, entered the fence, and struck the victim once on the head with a bat, causing him a closed craniocerebral injury,« the court»s message says.

The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
