Court places sauna administrator under house arrest after fatal fire
The woman denies the charges while expressing condolences to the victims« families.
The court of the Central District of Kemerovo has chosen a preventive measure for the administrator of an illegal sauna in Prokopyevsk, Elena Selishcheva, who does not admit guilt in the deaths of five teenagers. The woman asked to be left free, reports NGS42.RU correspondent from the courtroom on Monday, February 2.
According to the investigation«s version, the woman may try to destroy evidence, including video surveillance records from the sauna, which, as it turned out, was operating illegally. It is assumed that the fire that claimed the lives of five minors occurred due to a stove that Selishcheva overheated.
The detainee disagreed with the charges and asked to be left free because she has two children and a sick mother who need help. Moreover, she has no other job besides the one at the sauna, and she was not officially registered there.
The lawyer stated that her client sincerely sympathizes with the families where the teenagers died.
The court ruled to place the woman under house arrest for the time while examinations and investigation of the circumstances of the tragedy are being conducted.
