Court Extends Detention of Ex-mayor of Kirov

On 3 February 2026, the Yaroslavl Regional Court kept under arrest the former director of Yargormost and ex-mayor of Kirov, Dmitry Drany. He is accused of receiving bribes, and the detention period has been extended until 14 March 2026.
According to the court«s press service,

«the detention period has been extended until 14 March 2026.»

Dmitry Drany was detained in July 2025. The investigation alleges that from November 2023 to March 2024, he received more than 10 million rubles (approximately $111,000 at current rates) from entrepreneurs. The money was allegedly transferred to him for concluding favorable contracts, as well as for assistance in the acceptance of works and supplied products.
The defendant«s biography includes several stages:
  • Born 29 October 1972 in the town of Uchaly-1, Bashkir ASSR.
  • Started his career as an auto mechanic, then moved to management positions.
  • In 2005, he became head of the Kirov Municipal Unitary Production Enterprise »Gordormoststroy.«
  • From 2010 to 2014, he served as mayor of Kirov.
  • From April 2023 to July 2025, he was the general director of JSC »Yargormost.«
The company Yargormost, which he headed, carried out large projects in Yaroslavl. A number of them in the last two years have been associated with scandals, missed deadlines, and incidents.
