Marat Khairullin started betting in the early 2010s, initially winning and even bringing money home. But later, he got sucked into it — he placed large bets but didn«t always win.

When creditors came, it became clear something had to be done. Instead of trying to negotiate, Marat persuaded his wife Luiza to steal money from the bank where she worked.

Thus, the gambling hobby took a criminal turn. When it became clear that the money manipulations were about to be discovered, the couple fled. In their haste, they didn«t even close the door of their apartment.
