Could Missing Krasnoyarsk Teen Be Scam Victim?

A 14-year-old boy, who was allegedly kidnapped, may have fallen under the influence of scammers. Law enforcement is considering this version of events.
«At present, operational services and the investigative body are checking the version that the teenager is acting under the influence of scammers,» the prosecutor«s office press service reported.
In March 2025, it was reported that a 15-year-old schoolgirl was kidnapped in Achinsk. She recorded a video from a cemetery, and a ransom of 500,000 rubles (about $5,600 at current rates) was demanded from her parents. It later turned out that the schoolgirl had become a victim of scammers.
When asked by journalists whether the boy«s kidnapping could end the same way as the Achinsk case, the press service of the Investigative Committee»s directorate briefly replied: «It could.» A criminal case on kidnapping has been initiated (clauses «a», «d», «h» of Part 2 of Article 126 of the Russian Criminal Code).
The teenager went missing on January 22. It was reported that three million rubles (about $33,300 at current rates) went missing from safes at their home. A ransom of 30 million rubles (about $333,300 at current rates) was demanded for the boy. He recorded a video address to his father.
