Two third-graders, accused of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old boy at a gymnasium in Chelyabinsk, have been sent to the «Center for Temporary Detention of Juvenile Offenders». They will spend 30 days there. This decision was made on Friday, January 30, by the Traktorozavodsky District Court.

The head of the «Traktorozavodsky» police department filed a request with the court to isolate the schoolchildren for a month. The hearings were held in closed session.

In the justification of the claims, it is stated that «the minors are on preventive registration at the juvenile affairs department as individuals who have committed a socially dangerous act before reaching the age of criminal responsibility. They require comprehensive preventive work from the agencies of the system for the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency,» the court said.

The schoolchildren themselves and their parents were against the isolation, but the prosecutor supported the police department head«s claim. After reviewing the case materials, the judge granted the requests.

The decision has not yet come into legal force, and the schoolchildren«s parents can appeal it.

Recall that the shocking story of the assault on a third-grader in the school toilet happened back in September of last year. For several months, the mother of the victim could not secure punishment for the perpetrators, who had not reached the age of criminal responsibility. In January, she decided to publicize what happened. A criminal case was ultimately initiated under the article on negligence (Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) against as yet unidentified employees of the gymnasium. The investigation was taken under control by the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, and the materials were transferred from the district department to the 3rd department for investigating particularly important cases of the regional management of the IC. All details are in our article.
