«The witness was supposed to say in court that there was no rape and that everything was consensual. The incident occurred in 1994 when she was 14 years old. The statute of limitations had expired, and Shevnin agreed to drop the criminal case, acknowledging this incident, but the victim remained a witness in the main case,» an E1.RU source close to the businessman«s circle said.
According to him, the witness confessed, repented, and handed over the money. Evidence includes correspondence, other witnesses, as well as letters from Shevnin from the pre-trial detention center where he gives instructions for bribery. Previously, media reported that the businessman offered 50 million rubles (approximately $556,000 at current rates) upon arrest to be released.
«He has a lot of money, and his relatives and close ones are ready to hand it out left and right so he doesn»t go to prison. Although they tried to maintain secrecy, changed clothes, used fake names, they still left many traces,« our interlocutor said.
The case was solved in Yekaterinburg 30 years later. One of Shevnin«s accomplices, Vasily Kuznetsov, went to the SVO (Special Military Operation). Another has already died.
We reported what is known about the murdered schoolgirls. Both girls were from troubled families.
E1.RU sources in law enforcement agencies claim that 30 years ago, the case was not brought to court because the suspects were let off, although police officers gathered all the evidence: they found traces of blood in the car that the young men were driving and on clothing. The clothing was found in Kuznetsov«s apartment (Shevnin»s accomplice). Moreover, traces of biological fluid (semen) from the suspects were found on one of the girls.
