A journalist from NGS70.RU contacted the director of «Tomsk Crematorium», Vladimir Polbin, for comment.
«The crematorium is not for sale. It is being bought out by a group of companies that belongs to me. A deal is currently underway to purchase the cremation complex,» the interlocutor replied.
The advertisement states that the complex is equipped with a cremation line, a heating system with a gas boiler room, and an automated heating installation. The sale of the complex for 370 million rubles (approximately $4.1 million at current rates) is handled by PJSC Sovcombank, according to the ad. The buyer is promised a profit of 4 million rubles (approximately $44,400 at current rates), with cost recovery in 7 months.
The first building of the private Tomsk crematorium «SpetsRitualTomsk» (a private funeral services company) opened in 2022 on the territory of a cemetery in the village of Voronino, Tomsk District. It houses a cremation hall, specialized rooms for body preparation, a farewell hall, and an internal columbarium with 100 niches. As for the second building, which was intended to have two large farewell halls, a shop, and a canteen, it never opened. This was initially attributed to the coronavirus pandemic, and later to sanctions. According to data from the website «Kontur.Focus», Vladimir Polbin is undergoing debt restructuring procedures.
