Tenet A8 Sedan Production Starts in Shushary

On July 21, the AGR holding announced the start of full-cycle production of the Tenet A8 sedan at its Shushary plant, including welding, painting, and assembly. The project was implemented jointly with Defetoo. Previously, the Jeland and Esteo brands were launched at this site.

Other models in the Tenet lineup are assembled at the AGR plant in Kaluga.

The Tenet A8 is a localized version of the Chery Arrizo 8. It is a mid-size sedan measuring 4,757 mm in length, 1,832 mm in width, 1,469 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.

The car is equipped with two turbocharged petrol engines. The flagship 2.0-liter unit produces 197 hp and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. A 1.6-liter engine with 150 hp is also available.

The interior features a 15.6-inch multimedia display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, anatomical front seats with heating, ventilation, power adjustment, and memory settings. A panoramic sunroof, multi-color ambient lighting, and a Sony audio system are also included.

The winter package includes heated front and rear seats, steering wheel, windshield, and washer nozzles.

The Shushary plant was originally built for General Motors in 2008. After the American automaker left Russia in 2015, the facility was mothballed. In 2020, Hyundai acquired the plant but failed to start production. In 2022, the Korean company halted assembly, and in 2024, it sold the assets to the AGR group.

Production resumed in spring 2026. The plant currently operates in two shifts and is preparing for a third. It produces the Jeland j6, Jeland j7, and Esteo MX, with production of the Jeland j8 to begin soon. The plant has an annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles.

The project for reconstruction and construction of new buildings at the Shushary auto plant was approved by the Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.
