Telegram co-founder Pavel Durov said on 21 July that the messenger will integrate the Gram crypto wallet this summer. It will be built into every version of the app and allow more than a billion users to transfer cryptocurrency instantly without paying fees.
According to Durov, «the mass adoption of a non-custodial crypto wallet will be the largest in human history». A crypto wallet is software or a physical device that serves as an interface for accessing digital assets on a blockchain.
In early June, Durov announced that the TON cryptocurrency (Telegram Open Network, created by the Telegram team) had been renamed GRAM. Accordingly, the Gram wallet is a digital tool for storing, sending, and receiving GRAM tokens.
