Residents debate Lenta's exit from oldest shopping center on Marx

The total area of the Lenta store here was about 1.6 thousand square meters.
In Novosibirsk, the Lenta supermarket operating in the Fantasia Gallery shopping center has closed. A Chizhik discount store will open in its place soon. This is the third store to occupy this space.
Lenta opened in this shopping center in 2017—it was the second supermarket of this format by the chain in the city. Previously, the basement space of the mall housed a Holiday Classic store, which had operated there almost since the Fantasia Gallery«s opening. After NGS published the news, city residents shared their opinions about the stores. Here are the most interesting comments.
«A trend for pauper-markets with food of dubious quality,» wrote Mur.
«Chizhik has normal products, not like Svetofor,» noted a Novosibirsk resident.
«Lenta, of course, is also not Gorozhanka or Megas, especially in the supermarket format, but if things continue like this, we»ll be left with only Chizhiks and Pyaterochkas. And that«s a real village store (selpo). And in the end, you know what will happen? Everything will return to those very Soviet-era gastronoms that were all identical. Except now the assortment will be bigger, thanks to modern advances in chemistry,» the author mused.
«It»s all logical: purchasing power is falling, rental costs are rising,« a commentator believes.
«It»s not falling, it«s just that there are many competitors nearby now. The same Chizhik and others. And Lenta»s prices haven«t been attractive for a long time,» another objected.
«The next discount store will be »Nishchebrod« (Pauper)...» user «Zhaba Vasilyevna» quipped.
«Chizhik isn»t really such a discount store. It«s an ordinary store. Like Yarche, Pyaterochka, or Magnit. Just small. There»s practically no choice. You just grab something specific and leave. For many items, the prices are the same,« the author explained.
«You»re right, in Chizhik only sugar and eggs are cheap. For the rest, you need to look carefully at the composition and manufacturer. What do you think of lavash with propylene glycol and glycerin?! It«s written in small print, people take it without looking. Yes, for now, there are stably low prices for tangerines, bananas, oranges. I only go in for specific products,» noted a commentator.
«I didn»t like Chizh: there«s practically no assortment, it»s all the same. Purely to fill your belly and buy household chemicals of questionable quality,« complained a user.
«That»s exactly what it«s made for. The absolute minimum. For buying small items. The meat there is cheap. I go there for specific products at low prices,» added max.aha.
«It would be better to resurrect Gorozhanka from the ashes,» lamented an author.
«The location is good, but apparently, the landlord»s appetites are too big,« a user suggested.
«What difference does it even make who sells the canned goods inside the shopping center, and what shopping center is it anyway?» a commentator wondered.
The Mymusthave store at Lenina 12/2 is exiting the market: February 15 and 16 will be its final days of operation. The project specialized in selling cosmetics, accessories, and home goods. The owner, Elena Mushta, told an NGS correspondent why the decision to close was made.
