Mariinsky Theatre Contractor May Be Declared Bankrupt

The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg is considering a bankruptcy case for LLC 'NK-City Company,' which owes the budget 7.72 million rubles (approx. $86,000 at current rates). The company's beneficiary was arrested in May in a fraud case.

The Arbitration Court of St. Petersburg has accepted an application to declare LLC «NK-City Company» bankrupt. This firm served as a contractor for the Mariinsky Theatre and accumulated a debt to the budget of 7.72 million rubles (approx. $86,000 at current rates). The case hearing has been postponed until February 25.
In the summer of this year, the company was added to the register of unscrupulous suppliers. According to data from the SPARK system, in 2025 alone, «NK-City» appeared as a defendant in 17 court cases totaling 35.1 million rubles (approx. $390,000 at current rates).
Financial reporting for 2024 showed that the company«s revenue was 216.5 million rubles (approx. $2.4 million at current rates), and net profit was 11 million rubles (approx. $122,000 at current rates).
In May, the company«s beneficiary Arsen Movsesyan was arrested in St. Petersburg by court order. He has been charged with fraud at a construction site. According to the investigation, Movsesyan and his accomplices forged documents for the supply of materials for the construction of the Artistic and Production Complex of the Mariinsky Theatre on Bulavsky Street. The total damage in the case exceeds 95 million rubles (approx. $1.06 million at current rates).
The contract between LLC «NK-City Company» and the Ministry of Culture for the construction of this facility was concluded in November 2023, with a cost exceeding 413 million rubles (approx. $4.59 million at current rates). During the work, the client imposed penalties on the contractor three times for violations.
