Itakinskoye Deposit Development Gets Final Approvals
The project for a mining complex based on the Itakinskoye gold deposit in Zabaykalsky Krai has received positive conclusions from Glavgosexpertiza of Russia and the State Environmental Expertise of Rosprirodnadzor, the NedraDV portal reported on 20 July.
Mining will be carried out at two open pits: the Surmyanaya Gorka section and the Maleevsky section. In the first stage, the company plans to extract 2.37 million tonnes of cyanidable ore (containing 4.63 tonnes of gold and 10.08 tonnes of silver) and 726,000 tonnes of refractory ore (containing 1.3 tonnes of gold and 5.93 tonnes of silver).
Currently, Mangazeya Mining is conducting pilot production at the Itakinskoye deposit. Project launch is scheduled before 2028. Investments in the development of Itaka are estimated at $250 million.
In addition to the open pits, Mangazeya Mining plans to build on the territory of the mining complex: waste dumps, ore stockpiles, treatment facilities, a warehouse, a drainage system, and access roads.
The Itakinskoye deposit is located in the Mogochinsky Municipal District of Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia, near the urban-type settlement of Itaka. Its balance reserves (C1+C2) amount to 24.49 million tonnes of ore, 66.76 tonnes of gold, and 182.5 tonnes of silver; off-balance reserves amount to 15.41 million tonnes of ore, 38.53 tonnes of gold, and 181.3 tonnes of silver.
Mangazeya Mining, which engages in gold mining in Zabaykalsky Krai, is part of the Mangazeya group of companies. According to the Mangazeya Group website, Mangazeya Mining is engaged in gold mining at the Nasedkino and Itakinskoye deposits in the Mogochinsky District, and the Kochkovskoye deposit in the Gazimuro-Zavodsky District. It is also known that Mangazeya Mining will invest 70 billion rubles ($736,842,100 at current rates) in the development project of the Taseevskoye gold deposit in the Baleysky District of Zabaykalsky Krai.
