Editor and Director of Zabaikalsky Rabochy Resigns

Andrey Belokopytoв, the director and editor-in-chief of the newspaper Zabaikalsky Rabochy, is leaving his post after almost 6 years, a source told Chita.Ru correspondent on January 29. Belokopytoв himself confirmed the information.
Andrey Belokopytoв was born on January 29, 1984 in the city of Iskitim, Novosibirsk Oblast. From September 2004, he was a correspondent for the regional newspaper Ekstra, from November 2010 – an editor at the news agency Zabmedia.ru, after which he became the director of the holding. He resigned from the position of general director in February 2020. Belokopytoв took over Zabaikalsky Rabochy on April 17, 2020.
The director himself told Chita.Ru correspondent that he is leaving of his own free will.
«As for prospects – publications like Zabaikalsky Rabochy exist in many regions and will continue their work, including in print format. I am leaving of my own free will and will focus on other professional tasks,» Belokopytoв noted.
The resignation was also commented on by the deputy chairman of the regional government for information policy, Vyacheslav Kulakov. According to him, a new head for the publication is currently being sought.
«I want to thank Andrey Olegovich for his work. This publication is one of the key information resources of the region, the oldest newspaper in Siberia and the Far East. Certainly, Zabaikalsky Rabochy will continue to develop – both in print and electronically, for which the editorial staff has all the resources and competencies,» said Vyacheslav Kulakov.
The founders of the newspaper Zabaikalsky Rabochy are the government of Zabaykalsky Krai, the Legislative Assembly of the region, and the editorial staff«s labor collective.
