Soviet VIP car listed for $51,000 in Yekaterinburg

A GAZ-12 ZIM has been put up for sale in Yekaterinburg. The owner is asking 5.1 million rubles ($51,000 at current rates) for this 1955 executive-class sedan. The car is in running order and registered, with all documents in order.

The owner describes: «I want the car to go to the right hands, people who know how to appreciate such vehicles. It’s a complete car in perfect condition. All chrome is in place, the body color — factory-original nitro enamel. The interior material — factory-original and in excellent condition. The tires are from the Soviet era and in great shape. All window panels and the dashboard are flawless, hand-painted with brushes, not water-transfer printing. Everything is done to original specifications, brakes are new, fluids have been serviced. The metal is all original, no body filler, the floor is all original and intact.»

The seller says he took good care of the car, «taking it out» only occasionally and in dry weather.

The owner added: «The engine and gearbox are from a GAZ-21. That’s enough for drives and exhibitions! The car hasn’t been run to death on countless photo shoots and weddings. There are some signs of age. There are a few small things that need attention. It is stored in a cover in a garage.»
