A Toyota Celica Camry from 1981 has been put up for sale in Vladivostok. It has 77,000 km on the odometer and is priced at 820,000 rubles (approximately $9,100 at current rates), according to an ad on Drom.ru.
Toyota Celica is a sports car that went into production in 1970. In 1980, the lineup was expanded with the development and release of the Toyota Celica Camry — a rear-wheel-drive sedan. The model was initially conceived as a comfortable stretched four-door version of the sporty Celica, with a softer suspension and a roomier cabin, better suited for family trips.
Toyota produced about 100,000 Celica Camry units, and in 1982 production of the model was discontinued. The Camry line split from the Celica and became a standalone model, evolving into one of the most popular and prestigious business sedans.
Production of the Toyota Celica ended in 2006, while the Camry is still being manufactured and sold in more than 100 countries worldwide. An exception is the domestic Japanese market, due to low demand for the model.
The ad states that the car has 130 horsepower and has had only two owners. The seller writes that the engine has been completely rebuilt and refreshed, and the body is entirely original.
Earlier, we reported that the GAZ-M-20 Pobeda, a 77-year-old car, was being sold in Vladivostok. The legend of the Soviet auto industry is in excellent condition, but it comes with a hefty price tag — 5 million rubles (approximately $55,600 at current rates).
