A Mercedes-Benz from 1933 is being sold in Novosibirsk for 330,000 rubles ($3,300 at current rates). The rare model, judging by the photos, is noticeably worn.
The listing states that the car has a 2-liter gasoline engine and a manual transmission.
“Mercedes-Benz W21 1933, with documents (old vehicle registration document), authenticity and completeness judge from photos. The car starts and drives,” the owner reports.
The Mercedes-Benz W21 is the first six-cylinder Mercedes aimed at a wider audience. The model holds a special place in the brand«s history. It was designed not for the elite, but for a broader circle of wealthy buyers.
In the early 1930s, Mercedes-Benz sought to expand its lineup below the expensive eight-cylinder cars. The answer was the W21, known on the market as the Mercedes-Benz Typ 200. The model debuted in 1933 and became a car for doctors, entrepreneurs, and officials who valued status but without excessive luxury.
The W21 became the foundation for future mass-market Mercedes-Benz models. It began the long line of «200-series» cars, which later led to post-war sedans and the modern E-Class. The car was produced in various body styles: sedan, convertible, and limousine.
Earlier, NGS reported on the sale of the first BMW of the popular 3 Series in Novosibirsk.
