Repair works will begin on the Ladoga Bridge in the Kirovsky District of Leningrad Region in late January. This crossing over the Neva River, located at the 40th kilometer of the federal Kola Highway (A-181), was diagnosed as being in a pre-accident state.

A diagnostic survey prompted the urgent repair work on the key crossing.

The first stage of repairs is scheduled for the period from 28 January to 28 March, as reported by the Leningrad Region Road Committee on 23 January. During the works, half of the bridge«s carriageway will be closed in stages. Traffic will be organized on the remaining half, with one lane in each direction, and the permitted speed will be limited to 40 km/h (25 mph).

A detour scheme has been developed for drivers for the repair period. Motorists traveling from the region to St. Petersburg are advised to use the regional road near the Sinyavinsky Heights, the «St. Petersburg Southern Semi-Ring,» and the M-10 highway with further access to the Ring Road.

The decision to carry out the planned preventive maintenance was made following a 2024 diagnostic survey, which revealed significant defects in the main load-bearing structures of the facility. Disregard of weight restrictions by truck drivers created a risk of unpredictable consequences. The repairs are intended to eliminate the damage and extend the bridge«s service life.
