Extreme Off-Road Tuned UAZ Sold for 1.5M Rubles

A 1997 UAZ-3151 has been put up for sale in Novosibirsk for 1.5 million rubles (approximately $15,000 at current rates). The owner set this price due to the vehicle«s technical enhancements: it is heavily modified for extreme off-roading.

The vehicle has reinforced suspension, off-road tires, a winch, additional lighting, and so on—all classic modifications. The stated mileage is 85,000 kilometers. The seller«s description is more than modest, but everything is shown in the photos.

«Selling UAZ in good running condition,» is stated in the ad.

The UAZ-3151 off-road vehicle is a classic representative of the UAZ family with a strong history, tracing its roots to the legendary UAZ-469, which served as a military and utility off-road vehicle since the 1970s. In 1985, the model was modernized, and the UAZ-3151 became a more contemporary and mass-produced version of the off-roader, with geared axles, durable components, and improved equipment, produced until 2013, including 1997—the peak of its popularity among Russian drivers.

This UAZ is interesting primarily for its off-road capability and simple construction: a frame, rigid suspension, sturdy axles, and four-wheel drive with a low-range transfer case make it capable of overcoming mud, fords, and steep climbs where passenger cars are powerless.

Moreover, the UAZ-3151 has a spacious cabin for 5-7 people and the ability to carry cargo, which made it in demand not only among the military but also among hunters, fishermen, agricultural workers, and tourists. Its construction is simple enough to facilitate repairs and maintenance even in remote regions.

The UAZ is easily adapted for serious off-roading, and many owners modify it themselves: reinforced suspension and shock absorbers—for better wheel travel and stability on uneven terrain; larger off-road tires—for better traction on mud, snow, and muddy tracks; winches and sturdy bumpers—for self-recovery and assisting other vehicles. Differential locks and reinforced axles—for serious jeeping and extreme off-roading.

Such modifications turn the UAZ from a basic «go-anywhere» vehicle into a true off-road machine, capable of overcoming the most difficult sections of routes and participating in off-road expeditions.
