In Ufa, city traffic jams piled up after a heavy snowfall. Numerous accidents and multi-hour gridlock greeted residents on Tuesday evening.
A reader of UFA1.RU shared their thoughts on how the city handled the snowy days after a long calm.
«Accidents everywhere. The snow fell and the roads turned into a swamp of gray slush and loose dirty snowdrifts. I was driving home and the snow was only light, but the roads were full of reckless drivers. They speed as if they fear nothing. As a result, there»s an accident at every intersection. At 18:00, it was a total collapse.«
On Bashkiria«s highways, it was also chaos. Due to the severe weather, traffic was completely stopped. Motorists found themselves stranded on sections of both regional and local highways.
«I»m currently driving from Tastuba approaching Mishkino. There hasn«t been any snow-clearing equipment the entire time, and the snow is light. Of course, it»s better to close the road than to clean it,« fumed a motorist.
«Fill up at the nearest gas station, bring hot tea, and turn off your headlights in the traffic jam,» experienced drivers advised him.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), traffic has indeed been stopped on the M7 Volga highway from kilometer 1171 to 1229. Tentatively until 09:00 on 4 February.
On regional roads: Belebey-Nikolayevka-Tuymazy-Bakaly from 0 to 133 km;
Birsk-Tastuba-Satka from 0 to 180 km;
Dyurtyuli-Neftekamsk from 0 to 87 km;
Dyurtyuli-Burayevo from 0 to 63 km.
Meteorologists say the snowfall will last at least two more days.
