Over 11 years of work, volunteers have rescued and rehomed more than a thousand cats, including those with complex diseases.
«All of last year and the year before, we tried to survive and pay off our debts. Unfortunately, we have not fully succeeded. It is very difficult to get by from one fundraiser to the next,» Klimova admitted.
If the shelter closes, all its wards will have to be urgently placed. Alternatively, the cats will be moved to the Huskyekb territory in Kamensk-Uralsky.
«The main financial burden, besides the clinics, is paying for electricity and workers in Gorny Shchit. Previously, the payments were split between dogs and cats; now the dogs are gone, and I cannot cover the basic payments. I can either buy food or pay for electricity. Either pay the clinic or the workers. You cannot survive like that. By moving, we will reduce the financial burden,» Klimova said.
The shelter needs financial help to pay off its debts and settle into a new location.
We previously reported how volunteers from this shelter rescued a mutilated cat — the animal was lying under the windows of an apartment building. The animal rights activists also fought for pets that were abandoned in a trash-filled apartment.
