Wild Animals Brave Snow on Nizhny Novgorod Roads

Several wild animals that came onto roadways were caught on video in the Nizhny Novgorod region. Here is how moose and roe deer are coping with the particularly snowy weather.
Moose crossing a busy highway were spotted in the Lyskovsky and Buturlinsky districts. The regional Ministry of Forestry explained that in areas with dense forest, animals are forced to seek migration routes, sometimes crossing roads. Motorists were asked to be extremely vigilant.
Moose were also caught on camera by staff of the Kerzhensky Nature Reserve. During snowfall, the animals find it difficult to move through the forest, so they come out onto patrol roads.
In the Perevozsky district, a motorist spotted two roe deer near the highway. They jumped out of the snow, ran along the road (apparently frightened by the car), and dove into another snowdrift.
In January, Nizhny Novgorod received 239% of the monthly precipitation norm, local authorities said. See what the snow-covered city looks like in a photo report.
