Weighing only 7-12 grams, this bird holds the title of the smallest tit species in Europe.

According to specialists, this small bird is usually not noticed, although it often visits feeders hung around the city. The coal tit is the smallest tit in Europe. Its weight is only 7-12 grams (approx. 0.25-0.42 ounces), and its body length is 10-12 centimeters (approx. 4-5 inches).
During winter months, the coal tit often visits urban feeders and parks with coniferous trees.

«It is believed that the bird was originally called »maskovka« — for the black mask-like cap on its head, and over time the name transformed into the familiar »moskovka«. The coal tit is a true lover of coniferous forests. Its kingdom is old spruce and pine forests. However, during the non-breeding season, especially in winter, it can be found in mixed forests and even in city parks where coniferous trees grow,» is written in the post.
