The Tula Exotarium has issued a spring forecast using bobaks, or common groundhogs. The tradition of weather forecasting with them is held on Groundhog Day. The «holiday» itself appeared after the release of the film of the same name.

As reported by the Tula Exotarium, the results of all years of observations have turned out ambiguous for the first time.

How is weather forecasting done with groundhogs? They are released from hibernation to food. If the animals immediately run to the food, it means that spring will come early and be warm.

«If they briskly leave the enclosure and run to the bowl, then spring will be swift. If they behave hesitantly or do not touch the food at all, it means that winter will cling to its rights for a long time,» the exotarium«s press service reported.

Both groundhogs, Natasha and Sergei, were released from the enclosures. Natasha, who is usually shy and timid, immediately ran to the bowl of food. Sergei, on the contrary, hesitated, wandered around the enclosure, and only then approached the bowl.

Based on this behavior of the animals, specialists concluded that spring will come early to the Tula region and be warm. But nature«s whims are possible — winter will not retreat easily, so one should be prepared for short-term cold spells.
