Tomsk hunters to receive 30,000 rubles per wolf

Hunters will be paid 30,000 rubles ($333) for each wolf killed in Tomsk Region; the regional Department of Hunting and Fisheries explained that the payment will be made for each animal killed.
According to the regional administration, since 2011 the wolf population in the region has grown almost 18-fold: from 89 to 1,664. The animals have also begun approaching humans and attacking livestock.
“The Department of Hunting and Fisheries of Tomsk Region announces a monetary reward for wolf hunting starting January 1, 2026! For each wolf killed, you will receive 30,000 rubles (minus personal income tax under Russian law),” the department said.
To receive the payment, a hunter must submit to the department an undressed, undried wolf skin with intact ears.
This can be done during the official wolf hunting season (winter hunting in the region ends on February 28) and no later than 10 days after.
