Tiger Attack on Dog Caught on Video in Primorye; Dog Fights Back

A tiger attack on a dog in Barabash was caught on video. Residents of the seaside village are being warned in group chats about the danger and urged to secure their dogs, according to the Telegram channel «Slavyanskoye Televideniye» (Slavic Television).

In the video, the dog tries to fight back against the striped predator and hides under a building. However, it appears that the tiger still caught up with it.

According to a source, this happened on the night of January 29-30, in the backyard of one of the popular stores «Pavlovsky Posad». It is located in the center of the village, near the highway, where tour buses stop.

«We are warning people in chats not to walk around the village in the dark, and must escort children to school and pick them up. We are closing our dogs. We hope that the authorities and relevant services will take effective measures to capture the animal and ensure people»s safety,« the channel quotes local resident and public observer Olga Zarutskaya.

According to VLADIVOSTOK1.RU, the information was passed on to the Ministry of Nature of Primorye and the hunting supervision service. Specialists are to go to the site, look around, and determine if the predator remains in the area. Barabash is not part of protected zones, but serves as the main «gateway» for visiting this specially protected natural area, created to protect the Far Eastern leopard.

If the tiger turns out to be conflict-prone and has not gone far, specialists will begin the capture procedure, after which they will relocate the tiger, provided it is healthy, to another territory.
