Stray Dogs Attack Man in Volgograd Microdistrict
The stray dogs conceal themselves beneath heating pipes and ambush passersby.
In the Kirovsky District of Volgograd, a pack of wild dogs attacked a passerby in the courtyard of a residential building. An enraged dog bit the man on the leg — he will treat the bloody wound at a trauma center, while simultaneously receiving vaccinations for tetanus and rabies. The man claims that local residents have already contacted dog catchers, but were told to wait their turn.
It is hazardous to approach the dogs as they are known to assault people.
The incident occurred near house No. 5 on Rosa Luxemburg Street. A pack of dogs ran up to the passerby and attacked him when the man was simply walking by.
— A pack of 5–6 dogs has settled by the heating pipes. There are many complaints from residents. The dogs are aggressive. The pack appeared about 2–3 months ago, — says the victim, — At one point, the whole pack ran towards me. They barked very close to me as I walked, and one of the dogs suddenly bit me from behind. Well, I«m an adult, but we have a gymnasium nearby, kindergartens, there are small children there, what if they attack them?
The man claims that local residents contacted dog catchers, but were told they need to wait:
— At the MBU «Severnoye» they told us that they have a queue. They go out first to places where people have been bitten. Now I will go to the trauma center to document the bites and get vaccinated. A neighbor also contacted the dog catchers, he was told that the dogs were caught, but they haven«t gone anywhere; they»re still living there as before. In Beketovka, there is a very big problem with dogs, they run around in packs here. Someone even built them a whole shelter.
It was not possible to reach MBU «Severnoye» and find out if they conducted dog catching at the specified address. The editorial office of V1.RU sent a request to the city administration asking to explain what measures will be taken after the incident and why no attention has been paid to the pack of unsupervised animals so far, despite residents« appeals.
