New rabies outbreaks have been detected in the Omsk region. According to the Main Veterinary Directorate«s website, a quarantine is proposed for the settlement of Novovarshavka, where a rabies focus was discovered in a yard on Krasny Put Street.

The second location where a rabid animal was detected is the village of Lugovaya in the Omsky district. At the end of January, a rabies outbreak was also found in the village of Niva in the Omsky district.

A quarantine around these settlements will be imposed until the end of March, banning the import and export of domestic animals. This will help prevent the spread of the disease.

Previously, we reported that the number of rabies cases in the Omsk region increased in 2025. Domestic animals and wild foxes were most often infected.
