A rabies quarantine has been introduced in the village of Borovoye in the Novosibirsk region. This information was published on the regional government«s website.
According to NGS, the restrictions were caused by an infected fox. On the morning of January 28, the animal bit a woman and then tried to enter a store. The information was confirmed by the Veterinary Department of the Novosibirsk Region.
“This fox is the reason for the quarantine,” the department explained.
The rabies quarantine will be in effect in Borovoye from February 6 to April 6. During this period, a ban on importing and exporting sick animals will be introduced in the village. However, it is allowed to transport healthy animals if they have been vaccinated against rabies within 179 days before the date of transport.
Also, fairs and other events where large numbers of animals may gather are prohibited in the area.
Earlier, NGS reported that nine people in the Novosibirsk region were vaccinated against rabies after coming into contact with an infected cow.
