One-eyed cat Goryets seeks loving family in Novosibirsk

The cat Goryets, whom NGS reported on in June, has recovered after having his eye removed, has put on weight and now looks well. Volunteers are now looking for a loving family for him.

Goryets was found by teenage girls while they were riding bicycles through a dacha community. They immediately brought the cat to volunteers, and that same evening he was hospitalized at a veterinary clinic. The animal had a knocked-out eye and an injured face. He was operated on and what remained of the eye was removed. Veterinarians suggested the cat had been shot with an air gun.

As Vera, a volunteer at the Naslediye Bastet shelter («Bastet»s Legacy«), told NGS, the animal spent all summer living and recovering at their dacha: they took the cat in as a foster until the cold weather.

«He looks magnificent now, he has an excellent appetite, a plump appearance, he is completely healthy, a cheeky cat,» the Siberian woman shared. «He begs for love and is ready to give his affection around the clock. Goryets acquired his second name along with a chance at a second life; he is a real warrior. Right now he is looking for a loving family.»

Goryets is neutered, vaccinated and treated for parasites. He is a carrier of feline leukemia, so he can only be taken in by other carriers or by pets vaccinated against the disease. To adopt the cat, you can contact his coordinator through the Naslediye Bastet group on the social network VKontakte.

NGS recently reported that a home is being sought in Novosibirsk for a cat named Dervish. He was rescued in a neglected condition from the basement of an apartment building in Kuybyshev (Novosibirsk Region).
