Maimed Puppy with Taped Paws Brought to Shelter, Owner Disowns

Recently in Nizhny Novgorod, a maimed and duct-taped puppy was rescued. He was brought to the «Sostradanie NN» (Compassion NN) shelter by his former owner, but the owner disowned the dog and claimed he found it on the street. The story of the little one named Korzhik was told by the volunteers themselves.

The puppy ended up at the shelter on Wednesday, January 28. The man asked to take the animal for placement so it wouldn«t end up on the street.
«The hind legs and snout were taped with duct tape. According to the man, it»s an aggressive puppy! But we saw only a frightened and scared little boy with the biggest ears and kind eyes,« said »Sostradanie NN.«
Korzhik was sent to a clinic — it turned out he had a broken leg. He has already undergone surgery and had pins inserted. In a month, they should be removed.
Soon, representatives of the Gorodets shelter «Ostrov Nadezhdy» (Island of Hope) contacted «Sostradanie NN.» They said that back in November, they had placed Korzhik with a family. After that, the volunteers called the man again, and he confessed to everything. The fracture supposedly occurred when the former owner fell on him.
«The puppy was completely normal. He was intimidated and, apparently, beaten. <…> It suggests a police report will be filed,» wrote the employees of «Sostradanie NN.»
At the Gorodets shelter, Korzhik has two sisters left. They are also looking for loving owners.
Many of the wards of «Sostradanie NN» are animals with hard lives. Volunteers shared the stories of some of them with us.
