Magnitogorsk Animal Rescues: 'She Won't Be a Fur Coat'

MGORSK.RU often shares stories of rescued animals that capture the hearts of city residents. Consider the widely shared article about cat Kesha, whose nose was saved and who found an owner. For the New Year holidays, we«ve collected six dramatic tales of animal and bird rescues, all with happy endings.
Luta: A Fox with a Fierce Spirit

The top spot among the lucky ones was firmly taken by the black-and-white fox Luta, whose fur was destined for a coat. But the fox«s fate was intervened by Natalya Dobrynina, the owner of the »Raccoon Hut« shelter.
“We bought the fox from a fur farm in Moscow, where they are bred for fur. The idea was to save her so she wouldn«t become a coat. We returned home with a tiny one-month-old fox cub. And she definitely won»t become a fur coat now,” Natalya told us.
Natalya planned to keep the exotic beauty for herself, but she grew up and displayed a wild temperament.
“The hope was that she would live with other animals from childhood and get used to them, not be aggressive. But unfortunately, as soon as she outgrew the cat, she started hunting it. Instincts took over anyway. She began biting us too, despite us raising her for six months. She tore my head, scars remain,” Natalya continued.
The owner transferred Luta to Karen Dallakyan, head of the animal protection fund «Save Me». This fox became the sixth in the animal protector«s team. Luta»s life, including her personal one, improved. The black-and-white rebel befriended Borya, a fox from Chelyabinsk.
A Meerkat«s Unlucky Family
Another rescued exotic on Natalya«s account is a homeless meerkat. It was spotted running on a lawn near a store. Although before that, the predator from the mongoose family had both a home and an owner.
“We found the former owner. Acquaintances of this man called me and tearfully begged not to give the meerkat back to him, because the guy drinks and beats the meerkat. The meerkat lived with a cat and a dog, its tail was broken because at one drunken event the meerkat bit a person,” Natalya specified.
On the very first evening at Natalya«s, the meerkat injured its paws until they bled. She believes this happened due to severe emotional shock. It was decided to immediately transfer the predator to a nursery with its kind in Yekaterinburg, and its manager responded right away.
“In that shelter, there are over 30 different meerkats—abandoned and foundlings. We agreed to hand over the little one to them overnight. The boy lives in very good conditions. They found him a girlfriend, neutered him, and he just lives and enjoys life,” Natalya commented.
The Chinchilla Incubator
Natalya showed us photos of another rescued creature—a chinchilla. The emaciated rodent was found in a stairwell. It turned out that life can be very tough for chinchillas too.

“The girl is older, and she was used as an incubator: she was constantly pregnant and giving birth. The chinchilla was in the worst condition,” Natalya said indignantly.
The chinchilla was handed over to professional breeders, who treated it and kept the rodent with them.
A New Life for Groshik

And if your eyes are still dry, here are a few more stories to tug at your heartstrings.
A mixed-breed but very charismatic cat named Murzik lived on the street in one of the villages, where compassionate residents fed him. One day, they noticed that Murzik was limping and took him to the vet. The cat«s diagnosis was »dislocation of the knee joint of the right pelvic limb«. A serious and expensive operation to stabilize the knee joint using the fabellotibial fixation method was ahead.
“The people who brought Murzik said they had no money. And the cat settled in our clinic. I organized a fundraiser for the complex operation, hospitalization, injections, painkillers. People responded,” shared Yevgenia Kuleshova, the center«s manager.
The collected money still wasn«t enough, but regular clients of the center who came there with their dog responded. Murzik caught their eye. The love turned out to be mutual. If before the cat could hiss fearfully at strangers, here he surrendered without a fight.
“They came for him as a whole family. The man opened the cage and said: «Well, Murzik, let»s go!« And he got up and went into his arms. They paid the remaining debt and scheduled a follow-up appointment with the orthopedist. That»s how a homeless cat got lucky one day,” added Yevgenia Kuleshova.

The cat still limps a bit, but he«s already putting weight on his paw. Along with his new life, the furry one got a new name—Groshik. And his emotions in his new happy life are, of course, priceless. Don»t believe it? Look at the photo!
A Cesarean for a Dog
When else but during the New Year holidays do you believe in miracles? The complicated birth of a dog at the «ZooLife» veterinary clinic is called just that—a miracle. The animal in critical condition came to the vets at the end of last year. She gave birth to several puppies at home, but then her condition sharply deteriorated.
“After an immediate examination and ultrasound, it became clear that the situation was critical: there were dead and live fetuses remaining in the womb, one of which was stuck in the birth canal. The decision was made for an emergency cesarean section,” the clinic said.

The operation was successful. The veterinarians managed to save two puppies and the dog herself.
Linda the Goose Gets Painkillers

Perhaps you can boldly tell the story of gosling Linda if someone tells you there«s no room for luck in life. Linda was incredibly lucky. She didn»t end up in soup, but is living her best life with one of the families in Magnitogorsk. At some point, the loving owners didn«t watch closely enough and the bird got injured. That»s how the future goose ended up on the table of specialists at the «Vet Center on Stalevarov».
“A piece of chipboard fell on the domestic gosling, and Linda broke her leg. But birds« legs can»t be repaired because of their tubular bones. The gosling was prescribed painkillers,” explained Yevgenia Kuleshova, the center«s manager.
The world isn«t without kind people, and with the appearance of defenders in animals» lives, amazing turns sometimes happen. For example, in one of the stores in Magnitogorsk, shoppers noticed an abandoned large Labrador. The dog was looking for an owner in everyone. The poor thing was placed in a shelter in Chelyabinsk.
