The Irkutsk-based K-9 kennel is seeking new or former owners for an aging sphynx cat recently found in the stairwell of a building on Lermontov Street. The cat is not adapted to life on the street and has health problems. Volunteers shared the details of her story on the kennel«s channel.

The cat urgently needs a new home.

Judging by her appearance, the found cat was until recently a pet, as she is well-groomed but completely unable to forage for food on the street. Volunteers showed the animal to veterinarians, and their verdict could explain why the cat ended up outside.

“It turned out that she has serious problems with her mammary glands. Examinations and major surgery will be required. A very fortunate coincidence, isn«t it? First the cat develops an illness whose treatment costs money. And then the cat ends up in a stairwell,” the post reads.

At the same time, the kennel still hopes that the cat is actually simply lost and that an owner is searching for his beloved pet. But so far, in the three days the sphynx has been at K-9, no one has come for her.

“Perhaps somewhere a heartbroken owner is sitting, who has been searching for his animal for three days, putting up notices, calling clinics, and has already alerted the entire neighborhood. I would very much like to meet this person. But so far the picture looks different,” the post also notes.

Volunteers worry that the cat was gotten rid of, and all because she is ill.

“The cat lived with someone for many years. Slept in someone«s bed. Ate from her own bowl. Knew the sound of a key in the lock. Came to warm herself under the blanket — sphynxes are not really cats at all, but hot leather heating pads with ears and an extremely difficult personality. And then she grew old and got sick. And, perhaps, it turned out that a purebred cat is pleasant to buy, photograph, and show off to acquaintances. But treating her is no longer such a decorative pleasure. The operation doesn»t fit into the family budget. The sick old woman doesn«t fit into the interior,” the volunteers reflect.

The kennel notes that the cat is currently safe. She “sits in her little sweater by the window and looks outside,” waiting to be taken home. So K-9 staff are asking for help in finding old or new owners for this charming little one.
