Ginger cat seeks new home after owner falls ill

In Novosibirsk, a home is being sought for a cat named Moti. She was placed with a family two years ago, but recently her owner became seriously ill. Now the pet has returned to the shelter.

As reported to NGS by the shelter “Nasledie Bastet” (Legacy of Bastet), the cat was adopted as a kitten. The owner regularly sent photos of Moti, but he fell ill and could no longer look after her.

“We took her back. Unfortunately, he had not vaccinated her, as he believed she never went outside and could not catch anything. Therefore, she will have to spend a month in quarantine and undergo a full course of vaccination. She is, of course, unhappy—she has grown up and forgotten what it’s like to be in a cage,” the shelter shared.

Moti first arrived at the shelter in late 2023: she and four siblings were left in a box in the stairwell of an apartment building on Leskova Street. She was likely born to a domestic cat, as she was well-socialized and healthy.

The cat is just over two years old. She is litter-trained, loves to lie on top of a cabinet near the ceiling, enjoys watching birds, and walks on a harness. She is spayed, has been re-tested for viruses, and has received the initial vaccination. To adopt her, you can contact volunteers through the “Nasledie Bastet” group on the social network VKontakte.

Recently, NGS reported that a blue-eyed cat named Calcutta from a Novosibirsk shelter is also looking for a home.
