Emaciated Dog Khan Needs Home in Novosibirsk

Volunteers in Novosibirsk are looking for a temporary or permanent home for a dog named Khan. He had been running the streets howling from hunger.

As volunteer Nadezhda Konovalenko explained to NGS.RU, they were informed about Khan by his owners’ neighbors.

«A woman said that throughout December she heard someone howling. Then her daughter accidentally saw Khan and was horrified. The dog wandered at night and ate garbage. She started feeding him porridge,» Nadezhda shared.

She heard this story on January 24, and on January 25 she went to pick him up. At the location, neighbors explained that the dog nominally has an owner.

«And then Khan came out. His condition made me want to cry. He wasn’t just emaciated — he had simply dried up! How did he survive the severe frosts and stay alive?» Nadezhda continued.

A young man came out in response to a knock. He said he did not need the dog and helped put him into the volunteers’ car.

Khan is currently in temporary foster care at the First City Shelter in Novosibirsk, where he will be fattened up and neutered. But he needs to be picked up by February 15. Nadezhda is looking for a temporary or permanent home for the dog without small children or other animals. She can be contacted through the group «SHANS na ZHIZN» on the social network VKontakte.
