International Zebra Day was celebrated at the Chelyabinsk Zoo on January 31. For the occasion, three residents — male Henri and females Zara and Zefirka — received a special treat.
The festive lunch for the African animals consisted of fresh spruce branches and chopped carrots. «Our companions are spoiled, dearly loved, and not used to poor treatment, since the keepers practically kiss their striped little snouts. Today, to delight the African horses, the staff arranged a lavish meal of fresh spruce branches and carrots,» the zoo said. «The zebras didn»t exactly appreciate it, but they accepted the offering graciously. Ultimately, they were more interested in running around and making noise. But we«re accustomed to that and don»t take offense.«
It is worth noting that in 2024, the zebra named Zefirka became a mother for the third time.
