Perm residents spent nearly a year treating cat Fenya after he was abandoned on the street. Now that he has improved, volunteers are seeking a new home for him. Here is the story of his rescue.

In early 2025, in the town of Lysva, a hairless and emaciated cat approached people and was taken to a veterinary clinic. It was discovered that Fenya had once been a house pet, but his owners abandoned him outside when he became sick.

For several months, Fenya was treated for allergic dermatitis, intoxication, and acute urinary retention. He first received care at a local clinic before being transferred to the Murkot shelter in Perm. Volunteers reported that every time he seemed to recover, a new health issue would arise, creating a cycle of illness.

The stress caused Fenya to forget how to use the litter box, leading him to hold in urine, which poisoned his system. While he has been cured of the physical ailments, a behavioral issue persists: Fenya becomes highly anxious.

«The cat becomes anxious around other animals and unfamiliar people. He begins to over-groom, resulting in bald spots. He requires a home with a tranquil owner where he can be the sole pet,» Natalia Vodoreva, the founder of the Murkot shelter, said to 59.RU.

Fenya is approximately three years old, neutered, vaccinated, litter-trained with wood-based litter, and fed premium dry and wet food.
