Snow Cyclone from Moscow Nears Bashkortostan; Forecaster Predicts Blizzard Areas

The snow cyclone that buried Moscow is continuing to move east. UFA1.RU asked forecaster Alexander Ilyin from the Meteo center whether the republic should expect heavy precipitation. According to the specialist, there is a possibility that Bashkortostan will be affected as well.

«Apparently, this atmospheric front will form from the southwest of European Russia to the northeast. It will pass through the southern regions of the Volga-Vyatka area and then move to the Kama region, where it will be quite mobile in the meridional direction. However, although its movement in the north and south directions is unpredictable, I don»t think it will spread 100–150 kilometers. Therefore, if any snowfalls are to be expected in Bashkortostan, then only in the very northern regions,« Alexander Ilyin told UFA1.RU.

According to the forecast of Bashgidromet, on January 28 and 29, light snow is possible in places in the republic, but on the 30th, heavy precipitation with blizzards is indeed expected in the north.

«In the northern half of the republic, snow, in places heavy, blizzard, ice, on roads snowdrifts, snowpack, icy conditions. In the southern half of the republic, without significant precipitation,» reported Bashgidromet.

This is also confirmed by the head of the weather forecast department of the hydrometeorological center of the neighboring Chelyabinsk region, Yekaterina Vykhodtseva.

«Preliminarily, by this time, a new cyclone center will form on the territory of Bashkortostan, and more intense precipitation will be associated with it,» Vykhodtseva told our colleagues from the portal 74.RU. «Further, the center may shift to Chelyabinsk region or move through Sverdlovsk region. This will become clearer a bit later.»
