Raid 'Hot Snow' Launches in Ilovlinsky District
The off-road club «Stalingrad Trophy» has organized the memorial raid «Hot Snow», timed to the anniversary of the defeat of Nazi German troops at Stalingrad.
Participants in all-wheel-drive vehicles will travel along the right bank of the Don River in the Ilovlinsky District to honor the memory of the city«s defenders.
The organizers emphasized the novelty of the route: «This year we tried to make the route interesting and educational,» the organizers said. «It will pass directly through battle sites and occupied territories. The route will go through the Ilovlinsky District, as last year, but only along the right bank of the Don, where we have never been before, but we must definitely honor the memory of the fallen heroes, the defenders of Stalingrad.»
As part of the event, work on improving memorials, laying wreaths, and a moment of silence in memory of the fallen are planned.
The start took place at 08:00 from the Rossoshki memorial complex. To participate, a vehicle with 4×4 drive, a radio, a tow rope, a shovel, a broom, and a sober driver were required. Participants were recommended to bring food and tea. The organizational fee of 2000–2500 rubles (approximately $20–25 at current rates) is aimed at purchasing wreaths and covering other expenses.
