According to the Saratov Hydrometeorological Center, a Mediterranean cyclone will dictate the weather in the region this weekend, January 31 and February 1, bringing precipitation and challenging road conditions.

On Saturday and Sunday, precipitation is expected across the oblast: snow, wet snow, freezing rain, and drizzle. Heavy snow is forecast for the Right Bank districts and areas near the Volga River. Forecasters warn of reduced visibility due to fog and precipitation, with ice formation. Meteorologists also anticipate light blizzards and snowdrifts on the roads.

Winds on Saturday will be southeasterly, shifting to westerly and strengthening on Sunday. Average speeds will be 5–10 m/s, with gusts up to 16 m/s possible on Sunday. Air temperatures will hover around freezing over the weekend. Saturday night will see lows from -1 to -6°C (30 to 21°F), dropping to -11°C (12°F) in low-lying areas. Daytime highs will range from -3 to -2°C (27 to 28°F). In Zavolzhye (Trans-Volga region), it will be cooler, down to -8°C (18°F). Sunday will be slightly colder with nighttime lows of -3 to -8°C (27 to 18°F) and daytime highs of -2 to -7°C (28 to 19°F).

Today, January 30, temperatures in Saratov Oblast reach up to -6°C (21°F). The highest readings are in Balashov and Saratov at 0°C (32°F) and +1°C (34°F) respectively. Frost has temporarily receded, with average daily temperatures near normal, and even 1–4 degrees higher in the Right Bank, forecasters note.

This weather pattern is expected to hold until the start of next week, after which a cold snap will return to the region. Experts advise residents to exercise caution on the roads and consider the hazardous weather conditions when planning travel.
