Work in Nizhny Novgorod Metro Tunnels Continues in Cold Weather

Metro builders are continuing work in tunnels between the future stations 'Ploshchad Svobody' and 'Sennaya', where six thousand brackets are to be installed.

Construction of metro tunnels between stations «Ploshchad Svobody» and «Sennaya» in Nizhny Novgorod continues. On this section, the installation of six thousand brackets, which will hold cable lines, is planned.

In the right tunnel, which is an extension of the line from «Park Kultury», a rigid foundation for the upper track structure has already been prepared. Specialists have begun installing equipment and are now securing curved brackets on the reinforced concrete lining. The next step will be laying cables and wires for low-current systems.

The driving of the second tunnel was completed by the shield «Vladimir» in December 2025. Currently, the complex is being dismantled and lifted to the surface in parts for professional inspection. Dismantling is nearing completion, after which the installation of engineering equipment will begin in the tunnel.

Next, the contractor plans to start construction of tunnels between Ploshchad Svobody and Gorkovskaya station. Back in May 2025, it became known that Chinese-made CRCC shields, named Georgy and Mikhail by residents, will be used for this work. The first of them is expected to start work in March, and the second in April.
