Two trucks collided on a highway known as the 'death highway' in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, resulting in at least one fatality. The road was completely closed to traffic.

In Yugra, on the «death highway», another fatal traffic accident occurred. This was reported by the regional Traffic Police. Two trucks collided there.

On January 28, around 5:10 p.m., at the 665 km mark of the Tyumen–Khanty-Mansiysk highway, a 55-year-old driver of a KAMAZ truck, according to preliminary data, drove into the oncoming lane where he collided with a GAZ vehicle, the Traffic Police said.

As a result of the crash, the 49-year-old driver of the GAZ truck died at the scene before the ambulance arrived.

Due to the accident, the highway was first completely closed to traffic. Then, on this section of the highway, reversible traffic was organized. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated.

Earlier we reported that last year in Yugra, 221 traffic accidents involving pedestrians were recorded, in which 219 people were injured and 12 killed. We also wrote that 22 people died on the roads of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug last year due to drunk drivers. Another 166 residents of Yugra were injured.
