It has become known whether travel time by rail from Samara to Moscow will be reduced. There had been earlier talks about launching high-speed electric trains from the Samara Region (Region 63) to the Russian capital.

«The option of organizing the service of Lastochka electric trains on this route is not being considered, given that the existing demand is covered by long-distance trains. At present, branded trains with double-decker cars and the branded express train No. 9/10 Zhiguli run on the Samara–Moscow route, with a minimum travel time of 13 hours and 5 minutes,» said Vyacheslav Dmitriev, head of the Kuibyshev Railway (KbshZhD).

Plans to speed up transport links between Samara and Moscow have been in the works for several years. The project was discussed back in 2022. Over the years, the project has been adjusted. In early 2025, reports emerged that the idea of high-speed rail between Region 63 and the capital would be implemented after 2036.
