On the evening of January 29, a new overpass was opened for traffic in Yekaterinburg near the interchange by the Kalina concern. In the initial stage, traffic controllers are monitoring order on the overpass.
Footage shows one of the first motorists navigating the recently opened overpass in Yekaterinburg.
Already in the first hours after opening, motorists began sharing recordings of driving on the upgraded section on social media.
The complete reconstruction of the entire interchange is planned for 2026. Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Denis Pasler earlier specified the timeline: «We will finish in 2026. At the latest, in the fall.»
Work is being carried out simultaneously on adjacent streets. For example, the section of Komsomolskaya Street from Bibliotechnaya Street towards the interchange is closed to traffic until summer 2026 — an underground pedestrian crossing is being built there.
The main goal of the large-scale project is the elimination of chronic traffic jams. After the facility is fully put into operation, the capacity of the junction will more than double: from 5,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour.
