Metro Stations in Verkhniye Pechery and Ankudinovka

The authorities of Nizhny Novgorod are again considering the possibility of extending the metro line to the Verkhniye Pechery neighborhood. This issue was revisited after the Eney company refused to transfer a land plot on General Ivliev Street, as the area may be used for subway construction in the future.

The current city master plan, approved in 2010 and valid until 2030, has provided for the creation of a new branch for more than 15 years. Its route is planned to run along Osharskaya and Vaneev streets through Verkhniye Pechery to the Ankudinovsky Park residential complex.
The off-street transport scheme updated at the end of 2024 includes three prospective metro directions:
- to the Korabli residential complex in the Sormovsky district;
- along Gagarin Avenue to the Novinki settlement;
- to Ankudinovsky Park through the Verkhniye Pechery neighborhood.
Whether these plans will remain in the new master plan, which is to be developed by 2030, is still unknown. A tram was previously considered as an alternative for connecting the Shcherbinki and Novinki districts. In the autumn of 2025, the Ministry of Urban Development had already issued permission for planning the territory for a new tram line.
